Extending your play at the tables can be achieved by being prepared in advance..
We even go so far as to line up private tables at receptive casinos. This usually occurs at Crapfests, seminars and big group parties. That’s not exactly staying under the radar.
The casinos usually require a $500 buy in for a private table. They wouldn’t do it, if they thought they would come out on the short end.
Then there is a group that openly touts their ledged long rolls on cable TV. There goes the neighborhood. It might be a good idea to review some sound advice handed down through the years by the dice guru’s.
Any time you have a large group players trying to hook up, you will run into problems. We must be smart in how we approach the tables. Most dice influencers have two to four preferred positions at the table. In my case, I have four, SR1, 2 and SL1, 2. I have more confidence at SR. If these positions are not open, I will wait until they are, or I walk.
When arranging your hookups, try to keep the participating players down to three or four. Six or eight player trying to take over a table will still leave two or four players out of position. We need every advantage we can get and playing out of position isn’t one of them.
Ganging up on a table that just opened is one way of getting all your buddies on the table, but it will be hazardous to your bankroll. You will have too many players out of position. Don’t think that the pit critters are going to let six or eight dice setters stand around with out making some bets. The pit will catch on to your passing the dice around to the preferred shooters when you keep doing it. The hardest thing for a dice setter to do is pass the dice, when he is trained to wait for the dice.
When you take up a position at the table with your fellow DI’s, don’t call them by their “Handle.” Refer to them as the “Shooter” or first name on their player’s card. Don’t talk shop at the table. Don’t try to impress your fellow DI’s with your betting. Same goes for the table crew and pit critters. They have seen it all. Play your regular style of game and qualify everybody at the table, no matter who they are. Good luck and may the dice Gods be at your table.
