Surviving a full table of random shooters takes patience and discipline for the Dice Setter to have any chance at all to show a profit.
Let’s look at a worst case real world reality scenario. We walk into our favorite casino or boat and find our favorite table filled up with random players (randies). While you are surveying the crap pit, you’re position at SR1 opens up and you quickly jump into the spot.
Looking around the table, you don’t recognize any players and realize you’re at a round table of random shooters. The player next to you informs you that the person, who just left your spot, just had a nice run and colored up. Now it dawns on you that SL1 has the dice and you are going to have to wait on eleven randies to shoot before you get the dice. What to do?
You can start by fumbling around with your buy-in money and player’s card. Don’t drop it on the table till SL1 sevens out. The dealer may say go ahead and drop it on the table. Don’t do it. After the seven-out, drop the money. One down, ten to go. Be slow in picking up your chips. Take your time organizing your chips in the rail. Wait for that next shooter to seven-out before you make a bet. Two down, nine to go.
The guy on the hook now has the dice. Wait till he has a point and then place the six or eight. Play out the six or eight or both as you normally would, till he seven’s out. Three down, eight to go. Straight out (SO1) now has the dice. If the suits are sleeping, we will skip Mr. SO1 and not bet on him. Four down, seven to go. We will make our place bet on SO2. Five down, six to go.
We intended to skip play on the dealers Hook (DHL), but he showed signs of a consistent toss and was setting the dice. He made a point so we make a PL bet with odds and wait it out, unless he shows a lot of numbers. Six down, five to go. We will skip play on DHR. Seven down, four to go. SO2 gets a place bet. Eight down, three to go. We have to be careful with SO1 and take notice if the suits or box is watching our betting pattern as we get closer to our turn with the dice. If they are still sleeping, we won’t bet on SO1. Nine down, two to go.
We will make a place bet on SR Hook and play it out. Ten down, one to go. We diffidently will make a PL bet with odds on SR2. What we did not anticipated was SR2 going on a tear and holding the dice for twenty minutes. Eleven down and It’s our turn with the dice, finally. We make our PL bet, set the dice, make the toss and get six for the point. You guess it. Point seven and out. Well, I told you it was a worst case scenario.
To do all this in real life, takes discipline and patience. Just remember that in craps nothing is written in stone. You have to be flexible and go with the flow. The above example can be switched around to meet a developing situation. When you’re standing around not betting on a shooter, have some chips in your hand like you might be going to make a bet. Change your pattern of play. If you can get away with it, skip two or three players in a row. Don’t be obvious about it. Look like your about to make a bet and then hold back.
Discipline yourself to be patient and let the game come to you. Don’t chase the game.
