I suppose I should be offended.........
I suppose I should be offended by what seas3to5 says about book writers. But then I got thinking about the books I have read on craps, blackjack and poker and how they all tout some kind of system that will take them to the promise land.
My first book tried to bring out some of the best ideas from a host of writers. As I got into it I found most of them ended up saying just about the same thing. (Play the pass line, take odds and make two come bets and then spread out and cover the six and eight.) Was that a system or style of play?
The second book was aimed at beginners and giving them some idea of how I would play a wait and fire style of play as conditions changed on the table.
Book three picked up where most other books left off. No systems, just how to train yourself to developing into a dice setting, influencing player.
I have always stressed that I don’t believe in systems.
In fact I can’t remember using the word system in book four in over 300 pages. Book four is what I hope will be the book to end all books on craps. It tries to cover everything that possibly could happen in and around the game of craps. Yes, seas3to5, you are in it along with twenty-five other members of the dice community.
I have always stressed what I would do in certain conditions at the craps table and not what you should do. My style of play is based on the continuously changing conditions and what’s hot and what’s not. Some of us writers are not all bad guys. It’s just the company that we keep.
